What´s in the box

• 4 plant-based croques with cheese sauce and onion chutney (frozen)
• Total weight approx. 440g
• Serve warm, optionally with salad

Cooking instructions
  1. Toast the required number of toasties (directly from frozen) in a (non-stick) pan (possibly with a little extra oil), or in an electric grill (toastie machine): medium temperature, for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Press the toasties down and flip them over regularly. Check that the toast doesn’t darken too quickly (if so: reduce the temperature). Your toastie is ready when the bread is golden brown and the sauce inside is piping hot.
  3. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Make no mistake: this is not just cheese on toast. Mais non. Our Croque Mon Dieu is a decadent, plant-based pleasure packed with flavour and meltiness.

What makes it special? A thick, rich cheese sauce that forms that iconic, crispy crust in the pan. A homemade onion chutney full of punch and umami (thanks, Marmite). And slices of buttery white toast that hold it all together. It’s a toastie that knows what it’s doing.

Inspired by Lily’s years in the UK food scene, this croque blends elements of the classic French croque monsieur, British Welsh rarebit (yes, there's Belgian beer in the sauce), and luxurious event-catering-style toasties. Serve with a fresh salad for lunch, or enjoy one as a snack. One croque for a treat, two for a full meal – and four to share (or not).

🌶️ Pimping tips
  • These bad boys are drippy: make sure to provide lots of napkins!
  • For a casual, indulgent apéro snack: make sure to rest your Croques 5-10min after cooking so they firm up, and then carefully cut them into two or four triangle-shaped pieces.

    Serve with mini gherkins on the side, if you like. (If you want to be extra fancy: use a toothpick to skewer the gherkins neatly onto the toasties.)
