You may have seen it (or maybe not) popping up in the media, but lately thereâs been a lot of talk about so-called âultra-processed foodsâ (*). And whenever that term comes up, âfrozen mealsâ are very often mentioned in the same context.
So: a little message as a follow-up! The last thing we want is to judge anyone or anything â we are not the food police. Hey: we definitely enjoy a machine-made treat with little nutritional value every now and then too!
But: the one thing we wanted to let you know is that our frozen meals at Solid Stash are not like that.Â
⢠Our recipes are not meticulously developed in some sterile lab to be as addictive as possible: they are 100% the same nutritious meals we love to serve to our own families and loved ones.Â
⢠Our dishes are not mass-produced by robots in a huge anonymous factory, with the longest shelf life and financial margins in mind: our (fully human!) Brussels kitchen team cooks everything by hand, just like you would at home, and with lots of love too. (Although our pots and pans are *a lot* bigger than yours!).
⢠Our ingredients donât undergo strange treatments to âoptimizeâ them from an efficiency or cost perspective: we buy exactly the same fresh, high-quality products you would get at your greengrocer or supermarket. Just in much larger quantities: hello 120 kilos of fresh mushrooms when we make our Vol-au-Vegan!)

We even try to avoid factory-made meat substitutes: instead, we choose lots of vegetables, lentils, beans, nuts, and soy when it comes to adding protein to our meals, or we do our best to opt for more natural, time-honored protein sources like tofu, tempeh, or artisanal seitan when appropriate.

Just like at home, we want everything to be as tasty as possible, so a typical store-bought, processed ingredient regularly appears in our recipes: ketchup, miso, soy sauce, soy or oat milk, plant-based cream⌠If you ever come across E-numbers in our ingredient lists, we promise you: they will be limited to these!
There you have it. We just wanted to share that and make one thing clear: Solid Stash is artisanal quality, hand-cooked, with the greatest love â for the product, and for you!
