Cooking instructions

Simply take your packet of Solid Stash from the freezer, remove from packaging and place frozen into a casserole or microwave dish. Add 1-2 tbsp water & warm in microwave or on stove (medium heat), often stirring carefully, until piping hot throughout (10-15 min).

Founder´s take

An authentic Flemish stew – completely plant-based. All the nostalgic classics are there: dark beer, a hearty bouquet garni of thyme, bay, parsley, cloves and juniper berries, and of course that iconic slice of brown bread with mustard melting into the sauce. If you know, you know.

But this is Solid Stash, so we’ve added a few flavour-packed twists: Belgian gingerbread, sirop de Liège, Callebaut dark chocolate, and a special yeast extract we picked up during our time in London’s food scene. After resting overnight in the fridge, the flavour is rich, deep and comforting – just like grandma made it.

No artificial fake meats here. Instead, we use a perfect pairing of young jackfruit and soy chunks – both natural, full of flavour, and lovingly prepared. First marinated and caramelised in the oven, then slowly simmered in the sauce. Serve with fries and applesauce or a crisp salad. Grandma would definitely approve.

Why not serve your Stoverij like this next time?

  • A side salad of shredded endives mixed with mayo, a squeeze of lemon, pepper and salt is a true Belgian classic.
  • Go Great Britain-style and use your Stoverij as the filling for a plant-based steak and ale pie!
  • With buttery mashed potatoes for a more Boeuf Bourguignon-style, wintery eating experience.
  • Dirty fries: layer an epic, sexy bowl of (sweet potato) fries with Solid Stash Stoverij slathered on top, and then go wild on the endless topping-possibilities: mayonnaise, jalapenos, sriracha sauce, pickled red onion, pickled mustard seeds, spring onion or finely diced tomato for a pop of colour, crispy fried onions... maybe even some melted (vegan) cheese! Great sharing food, let me tell ya.
